Online sales of smartphones are expected to rise to 45 per cent
Mumbai, Ta. 16 June 2020, Tuesday
The share of online sales of smartphones in the country is expected to increase this year to a record high of 3%. As a result of the Covid-18 status, shoppers are choosing to shop online to maintain social distance, a report said. The coronavirus epidemic had little effect on sales in the March quarter. However, the lockdown disrupted sales on both online and offline channels, which also affected the smartphone market, a report said.
While sales volume through most channels is declining, online sales are projected to decline by only five per cent, while offline sales are expected to decline by 15 per cent.
This means that by 2020, the share of online sales of smartphones will increase to 3% of total sales. The first quarter of the current year saw a strengthening in online sales due to incentive offers on various e-commerce platforms.
Smartphone companies are redesigning their business strategies to increase or retain market share in the post-Covid-12 scenario. Manufacturers also plan to keep prices at an attractive level, keeping in mind the impact on consumer income in most countries.
