The current kharif season in the country started sowing vigorously

Despite the threat of Kovid-12, the country's farmers have started sowing vigorously in the current kharif season. Not only is the monsoon forecast to be good in the country this year, but conditions are also favorable for the monsoon to continue.
Compared to the kharif season of 2016, the kharif planting area was 17.60 per cent higher by the end of last week. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture, planting has been completed on an area of 3 lakh hectares.
Fifty per cent of the total annual cereals produced in the country are produced during the kharif season. Currently, the weather is favorable for kharif sowing due to which farmers are also sowing vigorously, Agriculture Ministry sources said. Given the current situation, the kharif crop is expected to land satisfactorily this year.
Progress of monsoon remains very important for kharif crop in the country as about 70% of kharif crop is dependent on monsoon. More than 5% of the country's population lives on agriculture and allied sectors. By the end of last week, the cultivation of pulses was completed on an area of two lakh hectares, which is 2.50 per cent more than in 2016. Oilseeds have been planted on an area of 3 lakh hectares.
The area under rice is 18.50 per cent more with six lakh hectares. Cash crop of cotton is seen to be 2.50% higher. According to the Indian Observatory, the rainfall since June 1 has been 41 per cent above normal.
