Tata Group may soon open exclusive Apple stores in India

Tata Group is going to open an exclusive Apple store in India. According to reports, the iPhone maker is going to tie up with Tata's Infinity Retail, which runs the Croma Store chain, for this. Infinity Retail will become Apple's franchise partner and is planning to open malls and high-street outlets.

A retail consultant said that Tata has started talks with premium malls and high streets for space. He said the terms of the lease include details of brands and stores that cannot be opened near the outlet. These terms are exactly what Apple insists on. The Tata-Apple partnership comes at a time when the company's first flagship store is set to open in Mumbai in the March quarter. Apple Premium Reseller outlets will be larger than Apple's authorized resellers. Most smaller stores sell iPhones, iPads and watches, while premium outlets will sell a full range of products, including Apple's MacBooks. Apple currently has around 160 premium reseller stores.
