The country's edible oil imports increased by 34 percent to 15.29 lakh tonnes

- Import of non-edible oil fell by 52 percent to 16,780 tonnes
- Import of vegetable oil increased by 32 percent to 15.45 lakh tonnes

The country's edible oil imports rose by 34 percent to 15.29 lakh tonnes in November. The Solvent Extractors Association pointed out that the increase in imports of crude palm and refined palm oil has accelerated. Imports of vegetable oil increased by 32 percent to 15.45 lakh tonnes during this period. However, imports of non-edible oil declined by 52 percent to 16,780 tonnes.
India imported a record 9,31,180 tonnes of crude palm oil, up from 4.77 lakh tonnes a year ago. Imports of crude soybean oil fell to 2.29 lakh tonnes. According to the report, the country's edible oil imports increased to 140.3 lakh tonnes in 2021-22 from 131.3 lakh tonnes a year ago. In terms of value, it stood at Rs 1.57 lakh crore with a growth of 34 per cent.
