Gold and crude oil futures prices fall on a weekly basis


MCX, the country's leading commodity derivatives exchange, recorded a total turnover of Rs 5,89,872.56 crore in 61,32,119 trades in various commodity futures, options and index futures during the week of August 11 to 17, with commodity futures accounting for Rs. 65,173.77 crores and the share of options was Rs.524608.18 crores.

During the week under review, precious metals futures and gold-silver traded in 5,56,991 deals worth Rs.35,655.04 crore. Among gold futures, gold October futures opened at Rs.58,800 per 10 grams at the beginning of the week, touched an intra-day high of Rs.59,030 and a low of Rs.58,275 during the week, falling by Rs.563 to Rs.58,290 at the end of the week. In non-ferrous metal futures, 85,832 deals worth Rs 8,806.37 crore were traded at MCX during the week. Copper August futures opened at Rs.729.20, falling by Rs.5.10 to Rs.723.60 while aluminum August contract fell by Rs.3.50 to Rs.196.90 and lead August contract rose by Rs.0.40 to Rs. 184 was the price. Zinc August contract fell by Rs.11.05 to Rs.210. Energy segment futures traded on MCX during the week in 5,02,615 deals worth Rs.20,606.83 crore.
