Elon Musk plans to lay off most of Twitter's employees if he becomes the owner of the social media company. Musk has reportedly told his potential investors to buy Twitter that his plan would lay off about 75 percent of Twitter's 7,500 employees. San Francisco-based Twitter and a representative for Musk's attorney Alex Spiro did not respond to requests for comment. Meanwhile, Twitter has made it clear to its employees that it has no plans to lay off the company. Twitter's general counsel Sean Adgate said in an e-mail to employees that the company has no plans to lay off the company.

A bid to attract investors

Musk has hinted in the past at the need to lay off some of the company's employees but has not given a specific number. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said, 'A 75 percent layoff would at least signal strong free cash flow and profitability that would be attractive to investors involved in this deal.'

Musk pulled out of the deal after bidding $44 billion

Musk himself said that he will address when he becomes the owner of the company. Let us tell you that after his initial $44 billion bid to buy Twitter in April, Musk backed out of the deal. Musk's rationale for backing out of the deal was that Twitter misrepresented the number of fake 'spam bot' accounts on its platform. Twitter then filed a case and gave both sides time until October 28, but if the matter is not resolved, a trial will take place in November.
