In Samvat 2078, the stock market index fell but the wealth of investors increased

Mumbai: The Indian stock market indices may have decreased in Samvat 2078, but the obtained statistics show that the wealth of investors has increased by Rs 11.30 lakh crore.

In the year ended Samvat 2078 for the stock market, Sensex fell 465 points to 59307.15 while Nifty closed down 253 points to 17576.30.

The market cap of stocks listed on BSE increased by Rs 11.30 lakh crore in one year to Rs 274.40 lakh crore.

Statistics show that Samvat 2078 has been a poor year for Indian markets in the last seven years. In Samvat 2077, Sensex saw a 38 percent increase.

However, compared to the global stock markets, the performance of the Indian stock markets is seen to be good in the year 2078.

MUMBAI: Brokerage firms and fintech companies have objected to market regulator SEBI's discussion paper considering all stock trading orders issued through Application Programming Interface (API) as separate trading, saying it could adversely affect the growth of such trading from India. Algo trading is considered to be an automatic buying-selling system based on algorithms. SEBI has recently said in a discussion paper that it would create a framework for regulating Algo trading by retail investors. A senior official of a brokerage firm said that monitoring of Algo trading is a need of the hour, but such an attempt could hamper the growth of Sebi Algo trading.
